What I Love

Did you enter the 2008 HGTV Dream Home Giveaway Sweepstakes? If I did, I don't recall. I did like several things about the house, though, and if I had to pick just one thing, it'd be the rosette or yo-yo quilt in the guest bedroom. I like how the decorator paired it with simple hotel linens trimmed in black. I also really like the black and white paisley pillow on the bed.

You can get the coverlet at Ethan Allen for a cool $750. I've paid quite a bit for Ralph Lauren bedding before, but I could never bring myself to pay more for the bedding than I did for the mattress. Incidentally, Ethan Allen would be doing themselves a big favor by using one of the HGTV dream home pics to advertise the coverlet. Their pic doesn't do it justice at all. See for yourself...

What's the biggest bedding splurge you would allow yourself?

Sandra, I can't keep the dog off the bed so whatever is on the bed needs to be machine washable. :-\ I think I probably splurge when it comes to my pillow. I'm pillow picky and I've gone through quite a few.

Sheets? I like comfy sheets. My latest ones were Black Label Hotel brand 600 TC/combed cotton from TJM. On clearance for $40/king size, so really, is it a splurge? ;-) They wrinkle out of the dryer but they are soft and smooth on the skin.

I'm thinking of trying bamboo...I hear it gets softer each time you wash them. But like Suzette...I don't pay lotsa moola for my sheets...just can't go there!

Oooh, I *need* new sheets. The ones I use are SO old and I don't even know what thread count (probably not that high) but they are so soft to me and feel so good except they now the eyelet band is tearing away from the main sheet; the main sheet is finally starting to rip lol...

Whatever the cost I got my money's worth!

I'm going to TJM to check out the sheets.

I'm still in my toile duvet Sandra and it could use replacement too but I love that thing! It's started yellowing toward to top. :-/ But did I say I love that thing? I'm waiting for it to start ripping too before I replace it.

Ethan Allen can keep their quilt. Really. I can think of plenty of other house projects for $750.

I love good quality sheets, smooth, high thread count. Suzette found a great deal on hers. I just look until I find something halfway affordable. I also love good quality down pillows. No feathers, just high quality down. Huge difference.

I would skimp on something else in order to afford good sheets and pillows! It's definitely worth it!

Hey, Sandra, I didn't realize you had a blog too! Thanks for stopping by. Those are gorgeous pics. I couldn't pay that much for bedding either, but Tues. AM has the best linens for the price, I think.

I'll look forward to seeing what you are up to also with your new house.

I just came across your blog from a link...I love all the pictures and especially all things house related.

My husband and I lived in Borger when we were newly married, so your Amarillo post brought back some memories.
