Colorblind

I tend to decorate based on the "feel" I want in a room as much as the "look." In the past, that's meant decorating with lots of color. For some reason, our new house doesn't seem to require the color our Amarillo house did, though I'm sure I won't abandon it completely.

The room we call our living room does not have a lot of color. Two, creamy, slipcovered sofas from IKEA, two, dark, brown, leather armchairs, and a dark, dark brown coffee table. I like to say this room is creamy white and sepia-toned. I like the zebra rugs but may lean more toward a cowhide rug with all the browns already in the room.

I also found a couple of side tables from Stein Mart that were very, very inexpensive. I figured I wouldn't be able to find anything like them for the price. Well, I might be wrong. Take a look here . I have a round one just like the one you see there. I tell ya, if you like the oval one, at that price, you should grab it. That site reminds me a lot of Home Decorators but with a more limited selection.

Still a lot of work to be done in the living room, as well as throughout the house. Stay tuned for living room pics in upcoming posts.

Hey...love those tables. I want one!! I hear ya how some homes just naturally ask for a whole different color and vibe palate!

Hey...I hear IKEA has a cowhide rug for $299. can't beat that price! But I also think Zebra can go in a whole lot of directions.

Hi, Sandra,

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I love your photos below of the fourth of JUly decorations and the ones above that of Nantucket. Just by coincidene I was on Cape Cod last week for the first time. My son lives in Boston and has been to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard with firends. He planned a weekend for us on Cape Cod. We explored little towns and they guys played golf the second day. I want to get out to one of the islands some day, too.
