Before I die...

You might remember when I was tagged a couple of weeks ago, I had to list seven things I wanted to do before I died. One of the things I mentioned was to have wood floors somewhere in my house. Well, we're nearing completion of a great project, so take a look...

I apologize for the poor quality of this pic. It was taken shortly after we moved in. Excuse the junk behind the sofa. That was stuff still being unpacked.

Now, the afters...

(I don't know why these two pics are showing up with the big white boxes on the side. I could delete the photos altogether, but they show a good portion of the floor).

There's still so much to do in this room. Behind the sofa are a couple of unfinished, stock cabinets that will have built-in shelving on top to house our books, which currently have no place to go.

How do you like the floor?

Hi, Just found you via Cote de Texas! Anyway, the floors look AMAAAAZING! What a transformation. I love the idea of the stock cabs as book cases... you must reveal that project when it is done! :)

Love your homepage...very clever!

Wow. I forgot about the photo of the room with carpet! That is incredible how much sharper that room looks with the wood floors as opposed to the carpet. It really takes it up a notch or two. (And I love your area rug, btw.)

Oh my! Those wood floors look so rich and gleaming! Don't you just love the feeling of those hardwoods underfoot? Beautiful, Sandra!

They look amazing! I love hardwood floors. We have them in most of our house. My studio and the master bath are tiled. I love your slipcovered couches.

Having been a recent houseguest at Sandra's lovely casa, I can vouch that the floors are GORGEOUS and really accent all her great furnishings so wonderfully! I also LOVE her guest room and was thrilled that she chose RL Landing bedding!

Love the floors. If you have pets, or messy hubbys (I have both), get a swiffer for daily sweeps across the floor. I have tile in several rooms now, but miss my hardwoods from the previous home. Someday I'd like to put hardwood in the dining room and master bdrm, both which still have carpet.

Very pretty! I can't wait for the new wood flooring in our home, but that will have to wait until the windows are in, the walls are textured and painted, the kitchen and bathrooms are remodeled, .....
In other words, it might be a while :0)

Oooooh. Lovely! It looks like ebonized bamboo...is it? Did you find it hard to do? we want/need to do the same.

Love getting a glimpse into Canyon Wren Cottage!

What a fabulous transformation Sandra! You must be so delighted with the result. Redoing our horrible blonde floorboards is on MOTH's list, but he wants to experiment (even sanding & then painting them white!) - so watch the space over @ The Hedge!

I love the striped rug. Would you share the manufacturer and/or source. I just found your blog, so don't know the story of your floors, but they are gorgeous!

Lee, the rug came from Ballard Designs. It's one of those washable rugs that's typically used outside. I got it on clearance in August, so I don't know if Ballard's has any others. Worth a look, though, as it was a great price.

Thanks for your sweet comments. :-)

I can't believe those are peel and stick vinyl planks, Sandra. They look absolutely incredible! You must be delighted. I love your sofas, too...in fact, the whole room is great!

They look like real wood floors! I'm impressed that you did most of it yourself--but not surprised. I bet no one knows they are not real wood when they see them IRL..do they? Love your house and your blog.
