Home of the Week

This week's home is a huge 8300 square feet and on the edge of Lake Travis, northwest of Austin. It anchors a 15-acre ranch with waterfront and boat dock. As you'll see from the photos, it offers lovely views of the water.

There are five bedrooms and five 1/2 baths. Sticking with the number 5, it is for sale for $5 million.

I'm not crazy about some of the finishes in the home, but then, I can't afford it anyway. At least the setting is gorgeous, and I do like the outdoor patio. What do you think?

I wanna see snow out those windows! Reminds me more of something that would be in the mountains...at the edge of a ski resort.

Big,big,big!

Did I mention it was big?

I agree. It looks more like a lodge, doesn't it?

Yes, I think the setting is gorgeous! And, it does look more like a lodge, to me!

It is nice meeting your sister - I had no idea that was who she was! :)

I have tagged you on my blog - Have a great weekend!

Whew! That is one big home! The view is amazing, but the rest of the home is way to big...I love small and cozy!
Hugs,
Penny

I agree with Penny, it is lovely, but waaaaay to big. Too much to heat, too much to cool, too much to clean, too much to pay taxes on... Who in the world can afford something like that? Is that Rick Perry's "other house", or maybe T Boone Pickens'?

I like your house better, as well as Eric & Rebekah's house! Much more character and personality.

I have been meaning to ask you if Lance Armstrong is still living on Lake Austin or if he's moved elsewhere in the Austin area. I saw he was on the cover of Arch Digest recently, but forgot to see whereabouts in Austin it's at. Honestly, I was underwhelmed. It was grand, but didn't have a lot of youthful personality like his apartment in Europe had. I also wonder if he'll be selling it, as an Arch Dig spread is often a precursor to a listing.

I'm not sure where Lance lives. I do know he's bought a huge acreage W. of town and is planning to create quite a ranch out of it.

Interestingly, the Austin American-Statesman recently published an article about water usage, and Lance was THE biggest water user in the city. Here's the article: http://www.statesman.com/news/content/news/stories/local/08/15/0815wateruse.html?cxtype=rss&cxsvc=7&cxcat=52

I love the rustic feel of that house. And the views are magnificent...the kind of house I would love to stay for a vacation but not really live there for a long time.

I love the lakes in Austin - we were there this weekend and had such a great time - stayed on Lake Lady Bird - when did they change the name from Town Lake?

thanks for the comment too -
muchas gracias!
