When Decorating Gives You Lemons

You've seen photos of the room that was formerly our attached garage. It was converted to a room some years ago, but there were some very "garagy" things about it that didn't make the conversion. One of those things was the heater/hot water heater closet. I'm sure it was fine when the space was a garage, but it was a real eyesore as far as rooms go.

This photo was taken before we moved in. The heater/hot water heater closet is the door on the right.

We couldn't exactly move the heater and hot water heater, so we did the next best thing. We turned the door into a chalkboard. One of these days, I may change out the molding for something more elaborate, and I'll gild it to make a real statement. In the meantime, I just painted the trim molding to match the walls. See the doorknob? I didn't think so. It's painted black to blend in with the chalkboard.

That is an awesome idea and a great way to mask something. I was sooo happy to have found Sarah white?? I remember her from Great Impressions rofl... so many of them around now. Too cool. cherry

Sarah doesn't visit my blog as often as I would like. I love her style. What was your name on GI?

I love it! I am still sorry we couldn't make a road trip to see your house when we were in SA :( I have been looking around for something in our house to use chalkboard paint on. Tell my very handsome nephew and beautiful niece "hello" from their favorite aunt!

Donna, we're still in the process of decorating and "un-garaging" the room. Stay tuned for updates. :-)
